A consultation with NGOs and government institutions on sustainable development of public spaces was conducted on 28 December 2009 at HAD resource centre. HAD’s Director General Mr. Ahmed Ameez told that it was planned to include a children’s park, green area and sports courts in the project. He also told discussion with different parties had already being done and two companies had given a green signal. Tekton Design agreed to bestow assistance in designing the land use plan whilst Greentech agreed to grant 50 percent discount on the materials purchased from them. Representatives from NGOs and government offices told that they will give full co-operation in formulation and implementation of the project. Katolla Boduberu group agreed to undertake the construction work in the park and requested to include a stage apart from the park, green area and sports courts. They also agreed to do the stage construction . Island Councillor and majority of the participants told that it would be better to make the sports courts near the football ground since the land available at jetty area will not be enough for that. Ameez also emphasized the importance NGOs c-operation in development projects for the island and HAD’s policy is to do consultations for different groups in the community when formulating projects. The formal proposal is to be written following more consultations with different groups in the community
