Huvadhoo Aid had conducted a two day workshop on capacity building of Community Based Orgnisations for Human Rights Education from 16 – 17 November 2012. Representatives from NGOs based in South Huvadhoo Atoll, Members of Women’s Development Committee of Hoan’dedhdhoo and Madaveli and youth participants from different islands of South Huvadhoo Atoll participated in the workshop.
The first day of the workshop was focused on increasing awareness on human rights. Comprehensive sessions on International Declaration of Human Rights, Chapter 2 of the Constitution of Maldives – Fundamental Rights and Freedoms” , Human rights commission of Maldives and Role of NGOs in human rights took place in an interactive environment. Participants demonstrated role plays on scenarios where the various human rights are being violated.
The second day of the workshop was on Project Cycle Management. Participants were divided into two groups and one group was given the issue of women empowerment and the other group was given the issue of human rights awareness. Each group’s task was to formulate, stakeholder analysis, problem analysis tree, objectives analysis tree, Project design Matrix (PDM) and an action plan. Participants actively engaged in the practical work given to them and came up with interesting presentations. Participants were given certificates at the end of the workshop.
