A special training programme on drug prevention had been conducted to the members of Huvadhoo Aid and selected youth group from Hoadedhdhoo . This was a mentoring progrramme to NGOs under the strengthening public response to combat drugs in Maldives project (Project K30) funded by UNODC. Huvadhoo Aid had been funded to conduct this project in South Huvadhoo Atoll. Two experts from Journey , a specialised NGO in drug prevention and rehabilitation facilitated the programme.
The training programme focused on stages of drug addiction ,formulating an effective prevention programme and relapse prevention. Participants formulated a plan for a special programme to be conducted on Intenational day against drugs. This programme will comprise of awareness sessions and outreach. The participants also formed a group called “Huvadhoo Network against drugs” which will be promoted on Facebook.
